"How to Start a Business in 10 Days"
Throughout the semester, I was intrigued by how some of you have a vision of being an entrepreneur. This got me thinking about the processes of becoming an entrepreneur with a successful start-up. Furthermore, I started to wonder what would be the first step and how many steps would it take to reach one’s end goal. As I looked at articles online, I came across this video that outlines how you could start a business in 10 days. My reaction to this was doubtful at the same time curious as to how one could possibly create a whole business in just 10 days. In my opinion, I do not think a true successful start-up could be adequately put together in just 10 days. In other words, each day of this 10-day process is clearly hyper-intense and I do not think that most people are able to complete each of these tasks in such a short amount of time. Either way, if I was interested in starting a business by following this 10-day structure, I would certainly be overwhelmed.
With this video in mind, do you think it is realistic to start a successful business in 10 days? What are your thoughts on the steps mentioned in this video? For example, step 3 suggests that you ‘build your brand’ but can this be done in just one day?
This was a very interesting video that gave me a lot to think about. With this video in mind I had a lot of thoughts. First, I don't think it is very likely or realistic to start a business within 10 days. I believe that ideas sprout and grow within time getting stronger and stronger with feedback and recognition, this is what I believe makes ideas so great. I believe like ideas and even brands innovate throughout time and with strong feedback from others your business becomes stronger and more successful. I think good things take time and I don't believe in rushing anything. Good businesses grow and prosper throughout time.
ReplyDeleteHey I don't think it's possible to start a business in just 10 days, this is something that requires an idea with proper implementation plan. It's not just like buying a bunch of lemons and making lemonade as part of your lemonade stand. I think the point of the video is to create an idea and work on it fast to continue to improve upon the businesses. It's also important to launch even if not everything is perfect because when it's out in the market, thats when you can improve greatly! It's important to plan out the timelines and even if we don't stick with them, progression is key for launching a business.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to think that you could start a business in only 10 days, but this is just not the fact. A better title for the video would have maybe been "10 steps to starting a business". I think that all of the steps mentioned in the video are valid steps, but there is no steps that explain failure, or if you have troubles, what you should do. There is always going to be some sort of failure that you an learn from in starting a business, and this video makes it seem like that is not a factor in creating a business.
ReplyDeleteI think the steps in this video are also geared towards people who already have businesses and have established connections where they can promote a new venture.
Although this is a great starting place for people who are thinking about starting a business, and potentially a good motivator, I think they approached it in the wrong way. If their intention was to over simplify the idea in order to give people the confidence to try their own venture, then the video could work, but unfortunately they made a rather difficult task look far too simple and missed some steps along the way.
